Thursday, September 19

Today flew by!  Our morning work today was:
Choose and solve one of the following.  How many different strategies can you use to find a solution?

Ms. Steeves has 92 balls.  She plans to put them into bags.  She is able to fit 4 balls into each bag.  How many bags does she need to fit all of the balls?

Ms. Steeves has 528 books that she plans to put onto shelves.  She is able to fit 4 books on each shelf.  How many shelves does she need to fit all of the books?

We had time to write in our free writing journals today.  Thanks to those students who were willing to share their writing with the group.

We each wrote or created a web about why trees and forests matter.

In math, we were representing large numbers in a variety of ways.

Our day finished with sorting leaves in a variety of ways.  We also learned about different leaf types, leaf shapes and leaf margins.

There was a patrol meeting at lunch and patrollers received their cards.

Reminders:
- Open House tonight from 4:30 - 6
- No school for students tomorrow (PD Day)
- Sell ADmazing coupon books! $10.50 from each book sold by individual students will go towards reducing their cost of Outdoor School in the spring
- We are in need of parent volunteers for our Dare to Care 'Take the Time' day on Monday, September 30.  If you have a valid security clearance and are able to volunteer, please email Ms. Steeves (npsteeves@cbe.ab.ca)
