Tuesday, September 17

Students who were to receive vaccinations did so this morning.  It was great to see how well everyone handled them.

Our morning work today was:

Which places are the underlined digits in?

We wrote a story using a picture prompt.  This will give Ms. Steeves an idea of where we are with our narrative writing.

In math, we reviewed and practiced the standard multiplication strategy.  For all of the strategies we have been multiplying 2-digit by 2-digit numbers which was an outcome from grade 5, but have begun to apply the strategies to 3-digit numbers.  Making an estimate prior to completing the calculation is helpful in determining if our answers are reasonable.  We also played Multiplication Snap to help with our facts.  Students can play this at home with a deck of cards and can modify the game to practice certain groups of facts they are unsure of.  For example, using only card from 6-9 to practice facts from 6 x 6 to 9 x 9.

Our day finished with Ugly.
