Wednesday, September 11

Some students were finishing work from yesterday.  Those that were done completed the following morning math problem:
Kim and her friends are packing bottles of water to send to the Bahamas to help with hurricane relief.
They are able to pack 30 bottles in each box. They are able to pack 60 boxes together in a storage crate.  40 storage crates can fit into a large shipping container.  80 shipping containers are able to fit on to the cargo chip for the trip to the Bahamas.
How many bottles of water were shipped in total?

We continued with inferencing.  We read the wordless picture book, Journey, and used the cartoon below from the paper today.

We began to learn about the artist, Roy Lichtenstein.  He was considered to be one of the founders of pop art.  We will be creating self-portraits using this style and his work as inspiration.

We had our first fire drill this afternoon.

Reminders:

- Sell ADmazing coupon books! $10.50 from each book sold by individual students will go towards reducing their cost of Outdoor School in the spring
- Return your blue assessment folder
- Open House- Thursday, September 16 from 4:30 - 6
