Tuesday, December 3

In math today, we were given input/output tables and needed to determine the pattern rule.  We started with one step rules such as + 6 or x 4 and moved to two step rules such as x 3 + 1.  Once we determined the rule, we needed to extend the table with 4 more input numbers and apply the rule to determine the output numbers.

We learned more about Wassily Kandinsky, the artist we did our art critique on yesterday, and created an art piece based on some of his artwork.  We listened to a piece of music he listened to when he created some of his artwork as inspiration.  As we were painting, we needed to think about what we wanted to say with our art and the mood or feeling we were trying to get across.  It is interesting to see how different and unique all of our backgrounds are.  A preview is below.  You can see the final products at parent/teacher conferences.

Once we had added in the black lines, it was time to write about our art.  We gave our art a title and wrote why we chose that title.  We also talked about the colours we used, the feeling we were trying to create and what the focal point in our art is.
